Gallagher, Bessie (1883 - May 1954)

Word has been received here of the death of Mrs. Albert Gallagher at a Madison hospital. Mrs. Gallagher, the former Bessie McNeight, was born in 1883 at Unity. She graduated from Teacher’s Institute at Wausau and taught in the rural schools in this area.

She was married to Albert Gallagher in 1905 and in 1906 went to Madison with her husband to live at the fish hatchery where he was superintendent. They lived in Delafield from 1906 to 1910 and then returned to Madison.

She was interested in rural education, in 4-H work and the Mothers Club. She was a member of the Oregon Methodist Church.

Survivors are her husband, a son, J. A. Gallagher, Madison, two daughters, Mrs. C. A. Hanson, Appleton; and Mrs. L. C. McGann, Madison; a sister, Mrs. Agnes Lamont, Columbus Grove, Ohio and a brother, Joseph McNeight, of Stratford.

A brother, Wm. McNeight, passed away here Monday, May 3.

Funeral services for Mrs. Gallagher were held Monday, May 17 in the Oregon Methodist Church. Rev. Robert Conner officiated.
