Sokolowski, Joseph (1 MAR 1865 - 19 APR 1944)
Joseph Sokolowski, retired farmer, who has been residing in the town of Mead (Clark Co., Wis.) for the past twenty years, died at the Owen Hospital of old age infirmities on April 19, 1944.
Mr. Sokolowski was born in Poland on March 1, 1865. He came to America in 1879 and was employed in Chicago until he came to Thorp in 1904 and became engaged in farming in the Town of Reseburg. He is survived by four sons, Bernard of Chicago, Bernice of Canada and Frank and Leo of Thorp; two daughters, Mrs. Leo Dulek of Thorp and Mrs. Paul Kubera of Kosmos, Minn.; one brother John, of Guckeen, Minn., two sisters, Mrs. Tekla Sukalski of Fairmont, Minn., and Mrs. Mary Rollman of Chicago, and many old friends.
Last rites were conducted by Father Francis Piekarski at St. Hedwig’s Church on Saturday morning at 9:00 o’clock, interment following in the parish cemetery.
The following relatives from out of town were here to attend the funeral of Joseph Sokolowski on Saturday last: Mrs. Pauline Sokolowski, John Sokolowski, of Guckeen, Minn., Mrs. Mary Rollman, Mrs. Tekla Sokolowski and Bernard Sokolowski of Chicago, Mrs. Paul Kubera, Kosmos, Minn., Mrs. Ed Czech, Medford, Miss Irene Sokolowski, Marshfield, Miss Lillian and Beatrice Sokolowski of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
