Glamkowski, Helen M. (9 DEC 1864 - 22 MAY 1944)
Mrs. Helen Margaret Glamkowski passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Stanley Smigaj on Monday morning, May 22, 1944, after a lingering illness when she suffered a paralytic stroke. She had reached the age of 79 years, 5 months and 13 days.
The deceased was born in Poland on Dec. 9, 1864 and came to America in 1884. She was united in marriage to Louis Glamkowski on June 25, 1890 in New York City and came to Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) the same year, locating on a farm three miles east of Thorp. . This was her home until she and her husband retired about a year ago and moved to the village. She was a good neighbor and a kind and loving mother. Her passing is deeply mourned by her husband, Louis Glamkowski of Thorp, two sons, Tony of Ely, Minn., and Stanley of Thorp, and one daughter, Mrs. Stanley (Ida) Smigaj of Thorp, and five grandchildren, Pvt. Louis Smigaj of Ft. Sill, Okla., Stanley Smigaj Jr., Edward and Alyce Glamkowski of Chicago and Elaine Smigaj of Thorp.
Funeral services were conducted by Father F. Piekarski at St. Hedwig’s Church with interment in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were Marin Soda, Adam Lesniewski, Leon Bogumill, Frank Jasinski, Geo. Zukowski and Louis Zukowski.
