Fischer, Geraldine G. (Marriage - 7 Apr. 1956)
Miss Geraldine G. Fischer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter R. Fischer, Unity, and Orville J. Vick, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry H. Vick, Stratford, were united in marriage at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Zion Lutheran Church, Colby, Wis. The vows were heard by the Rev. Otto Hoffman.
As the bride approached the altar on the arm of her father, Marvin Schnabel of Unity sang "Because" and during the ceremony he sang "The Lord’s Prayer" with organ accompaniment by Helen Gust, Stratford.
Carrying a bouquet of pink tea roses and lilies of the valley surrounding a white orchid, the bride wore a gown of traditional satin, lace and tulle. Lace appliqué formed the square neckline and extended to a point at the waist. Beginning as a peplum in front on overskirt of tulle edged with a wide lace border was cut longer at the sides and ended in the satin lined court train. Her fingertip veil was secured to an open-crowned pillbox of lace and tulle adorned with sequins and pearls.
Identically styled gowns with deep cuffs at the seam on the long torso and full skirts were worn by the attendants who were Miss Sharon Fischer of Spencer, a niece of the bride as maid of honor, and the 3 bridesmaids, Cairgone Molle, Norene Buetsch and Betty Mews, all of Unity.
Eugene Vick, Stratford, attended his brother as best man with the bride’s brother, Dick Fischer and two Stratford residents, Jim Weisenber and Virgil Reckner as the groomsmen.
The 150 guests from Palatine, Gurnee and Chicago, Ill., New York, Stratford, Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin Rapids, Marshfield, Loyal, Colby, Spencer, Unity, Wausau, Schofield and Racine, were shown their places in the church by Arnold Seefeldt, Spencer, brother-in-law of the bride, and William Helmke, Stratford, a cousin of the groom.
The mother of the bride was present in a navy blue dress with pink accessories and the groom’s mother wore light blue accessories with her navy frock. Pink tea roses and lilies of the valley formed their corsages.
After the wedding the reception and supper were held in Unity at the home of the bride’s brother, Donald, followed by a wedding dance at the Riverview Ballroom, Stratford.
The newlyweds will make their home near Unity with the groom driving to Marshfield where he is employed at the Roddis Plywood Corp.
The groom is a graduate of Stratford high school and the bride was graduated from the Unity and Colby schools.
