The Rev. Claude Vander Stoep heard the marriage vows at 2 P.M. Saturday for Miss Romelle Ann Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Johnson and Calvin Gene Ewert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Ewert, all of Unity.
The ceremony took place in Trinity Lutheran Church after which the afternoon reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents. The 5 o’clock dinner was served in the church parlors.
The bride, a 1955 graduate of Colby High School and of the Accredited School of Beauty Culture, Eau Claire, donned a chapel-length gown for her wedding, the accordion pleated nylon skirt topped by a nylon lace jacketed bodice with long sleeves and Peter Pan collar. The veil of illusion was secured to a princess crown trimmed with pearl beads and for flowers she carried a cascade arrangement of white mums and red roses.
Maid of honor was Miss Miriam Kilty, Edgar, a cousin of the bride, who wore a yellow ballerina-length formal of double net over taffeta skirt topped by a lace bodice and matching jacket. She carried a cascade bouquet of yellow and white carnations.
Similarly attired was the bridesmaid, Miss Gerry Berger, Menomonie, a friend of the bride.
Clair Ewert, Unity, was his brother’s best man and Floyd Johnson, Unity, brother of the bride, served as groomsman. Ushering duties were performed by Roderick Ewert, Baraboo, cousin of the groom, and Gilbert Wiedenhoeft, a friend.
The Ewert’s will reside at Rhinelander where he is an employee of the Pure Oil Co. and she is employed at Marvin’s Beauty Shop. Mr. Ewert is a 1953 graduate of Unity High School, also attended Vocational school at Wausau.
At present they are honeymooning in northern Wisconsin, Illinois and Iowa.
