Mandel, Julaine (Marriage - 9 Nov. 1957)
The Rev. Roy Gustafson officiated at the 2 o’clock ceremony Saturday afternoon at Trinity Lutheran Church, which united Miss Julaine Mandel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Mandel, Unity, and Melvin D. Gilbertson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Gilbertson, Medford, in marriage.
Comprising the bridal retinue were Miss Ruth Nietzel, Unity, as maid of honor and Misses Joanne Jost, Janice Tennis and Mildred Kroll as bridesmaids. The latter is from Clintonville and the others are Unity residents.
Charles Nietzel of Unity was best man and Leon Jost, Unity; Paul Dims, Colby; and Elmer Kroll, Clintonville, were groomsmen.
Sedwood and capioine were the colors of the attendant’s dresses, styled identically with three-quarter length sleeves, pleated cummerbunds ending in bows and streamers at the back and fully-gathered skirts. Face veils of redwood net completed the crowns which were their headpieces. Flowers were nosegays of bronze pompoms nestled in brown net.
Rosepoint lace over satin formed the bride’s floor-length gown. Iridescent sequins accented the scoop neckline of the fitted bodice, and sequins were scattered over the bouffant skirt.
From a crown of apple blossoms, a veil of silk illusion cascaded to the finger tips.
Centering her cascade arrangement were three white orchids surrounded by stephanotis.
The bride’s colors of white and bronze were repeated in the church decorations.
As guests entered the church they were shown to their places by Jerome Tennis and Robert Leisinger of Unity. Among the guests were residents of Marshfield, Spencer, Riplinger, Loyal, Dorchester, Abbotsford, Stetsonville, Tomah, Medford, Stevens Point, Colby, Curtiss, Taylor and Clintonville.
They were received by the newlyweds in Unity Memorial Hall between 3 and 5:30 o’clock and enjoyed dancing there in the evening. Supper was served in the church hall.
For her part in the festivities, Mrs. Mandel was attired in a blue velvet dress and matching feather hat while a black and white print was chosen by Mrs. Gilbertson. Their respective corsages were of cymbidiam orchids and garnet roses combined with white carnations.
A graduate of Unity high school and the Accredited School of Beauty Culture in Milwaukee, the bride has been employed at Beesler’s Beauty Salon, Unity.
Her husband is a municipal employee at Marshfield where they will reside.
