Schoengarth, Oscar W. (28 June 1879 - 16 June 1964)

Longtime Clark Co. Judge Dies

Neillsville - Oscar W. Schoengarth, Clark County judge for 55 years until his retirement in 1956, died Tuesday night at his home. He was 84.

Schoengarth was graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1901 and took over the judgeship before the year was out. Active in Masonic affairs, he hard served as a director of the First National Bank of Neillsville and has assisted in the organization of other banks in the county.

He was delegate to the 1912 Republican national convention when William Howard Taft was nominated for president.

Schoengarth was succeeded as county judge by his son, Lowell, who is now a circuit judge. Mrs. Schoengarth died in 1954.

Services will be held Saturday at the United Church of Christ.
