Tennis, Rosa (7 July 1877 - 31 May 1958)

Mrs. Rosa Tennis, 80, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, at 6 p.m. Saturday. Death was attributed to complications.

Funeral services were conducted at 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Colby, Wis. The Rev. John B. Pinion officiated and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. The body reposed at the Lulloff Funeral Home.

The former Rosa Harry was born July 7, 1877, in Two Rivers. She married Joseph Tennis June 8, 1897, at Colby, Wis. They lived in Glencoe, Ill., for a few years before coming to Colby, Wis. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers.

She had made her home with her son, Bernard, for a number of years.

Surviving are three sons, Sylvester, Tripoli; Bernard, Town of Unity, and Melvin, Unity. There are 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, William, Harry, Owen and Lewis Harry, Marshfield.

Her husband and a daughter, Mrs. Irene Pohl, preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held in St. Mary’s Catholic Church at Colby at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday for Mrs. Rosa Tennis, 80, who died May 31. The Rev. John Pinion officiated and burial was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Frank Will, Tony Will, Edward Feit, Frank Jordan, Steve Bezak and William Kuranda.

Attending the funeral from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Harry, and Mrs. Ray Adler, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Tennis and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ovden Hoven, Kimberly; Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Tennis and children, Racine; Ervin Pohl, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Pohls and Robert Pohls, Milwaukee; Arthur Schramm, Highland Park, Ill.; Leo Schramm, Glencoe, Ill.; Victor Schramm, Lake Forest, Ill.; and Harry Orth, Adams.
