Wing, Mary (Marriage - 18 Aug. 1930)

A wedding of more than usual interest in college circles both in Oregon and Wisconsin, was an event of the week in Rosberg, when Miss Mary Wing, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. B. Wing of Abbotsford, became the bride of Adelbert Young of Sutherlin, the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Young of Roseberg.

The marriage was solemnized in a beautiful and simple ceremony at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Young on Flint street, at eleven o’clock Monday morning, August 18th, with Rev. C. A. Edwards, pastor of the local Methodist Episcopal church, reading the service. A number of the closest friends and relatives of the two families were present. Artistically arranged summer flowers formed a lovely background for the affair.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, was attractive in a blue lace frock with slippers to match. She wore a corsage bouquet of pink Cecil Brunner roses arranged with maidenhair fern.

The couple entered to the strains of Sir Edward Elgar’s masterpiece, played by Mrs. Charles Heinline. Before and during the ceremony Mrs. Charles Brand sang "Because" by Guy D’Hardelot and "Ah, Sweet Mystery of Life," by Victor Herbert.

Bernard Young acted as best man for his brother.

An elaborate wedding breakfast was served immediately following the ceremony. Afterward the couple left by automobile for a two weeks trip to Lake Louise and the Canadian Rockies.

Mrs. Young is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, where she majored in French, and after graduation continued her work in French in Paris for a year.

Adelbert Young is well known in this city, being a graduate of Roseberg senior high school. He is also a graduate of Oregon State college, where he was a member of ? fraternity, and after receiving his degree in pharmacy, spent a year in post graduate work. Since that time he has been the proprietor of the Sutherlin drug store.

Guests at the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. F. B. Wing of Abbotsford, Wisconsin parents of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Young, parents of the groom, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Wells, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Chase, Dr. C. A. Edwards, Mrs. C. S. Heinline and Mrs. Charles Brand.

Mr. and Mrs. Young will make their home in Sutherlin upon their return from their wedding trip.
