Benz, August (31 Dec. 1848 - 10 Apr. 1930)

August Benz was born in Germany December 31, 1848 and passed away at the home of his son, Frank Benz in Abbotsford, Wis., Friday, April 10, 1930, at the age of 81 years, 3 months and 10 days, old age being the cause of death.

He was married to Wilhelmine Reeder in Germany in 1872 and with his wife immigrated to America in 1885, living in Markesan 16 years, at Sherry 25 years, and in 1926 came to make their home in Abbotsford, Wis.

This union was blessed with six children, three dying in infancy. The three surviving children are William of Nekoosa, Mrs. Wm. (Bertha) Nehring of Cambria and Frank of Abbotsford, Wis.

Mr. Benz is survived by his wife, the three children, 17 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held in the Lutheran church in Abbotsford at 12:30 Monday, Rev. Brandt officiating. The remains were then taken to Sherry where, after a short service they were laid at rest in the Sherry cemetery.

Brandt for his words of comfort in our recent bereavement, the death and burial of our husband and father, August Benz.
