Hoops, Alvin (23 Feb. 1919 - 5 Nov. 1938)
Spencer, Wis. - Alvin Hoops, 19, died at 9 o’clock Saturday morning at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Hoops. Death was caused by carcinoma of the lungs. He had been confined to his bed the past three weeks.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, preceded by a short service at the home at 1:45 o’clock. The Rev. A. C. Stapel, pastor, will officiate at the rites, and burial will be made in the Spencer cemetery.
Alvin, who entered Spencer High School this fall as a junior, was born Feb. 23, 1919, in the town of Sherman, Spencer, where he spent his entire life. About a year ago he was taken to Wisconsin General Hospital, Madison, to have his right leg amputated, necessitated by a knee injury.
Besides his parents, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Herbert (Irene) Heckel, Marshfield; two brothers, Elmer and Verlyn, at home; a great-grandmother, Mrs. Barbara Stelzl; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wenzel Huber; and a grandfather, John Hoops, who is living at the Martin Hoops home. Stelzl is making her home with the Wenzel Hubers.
