Rahm, Hattie (17 MAR 1892 - 4 DEC 1941)
Mrs. August Rahm was born on March 17, 1892 at Beaver Dam, Wis., and passed away at her home on Thursday, Dec. 4th. She had been ill for about two years. Cause of her death was cancer.
The deceased was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Schroeder of this Village. She moved with her parents to the Township of Sherman in 1900. She was baptized at Dodge Center and was confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Loyal on April 7, 1907. She was a member of the Salem’s Lutheran Church, Veefkind, at the time of her death.
On August 9, 1913, she was united in marriage to August Rahm. She lived with her husband on their farm in the Township of Sherman until her death.
She is survived by her parents, her husband, three sons Walter, Chili; William and Bernard, Veefkind; three daughters, Mrs. Ervin Hopfensperger, Spencer; Mrs. Marion Sutliff, Marshfield; Miss Ada Rahm, Veefkind; also three brothers, Julius and Roy Schroeder of the Township of Sherman; Bert Schroeder of Rockford, Illinois, and four sisters, Mrs. Albert Mellenthin, Unity; Mrs. Munson Vanderhoof, Marshfield; Miss Freda Schroeder, Evanston, Ill., and Mrs. Walter Krahn, Loyal, and six grandchildren.
Pall bearers were Walter Thiede, Albert Tews, Archie Smith, Lowell Schultz, Max Rue, and Edwin Gunz.
Those in charge of flowers were Mrs. Lena Gehrke, Mrs. Wallace Dietsche, Mrs. Archie Smith, Mrs. George Fisher, Mrs. Albert Tews, and Mrs. Albert Vanderhoof.
Three songs, "Rock of Ages", "Nearer My God to Thee", "Asleep In Jesus" were rendered by Mrs. Lowell Schultz, Lawrence Schultz, Mrs. August Mueller, Mrs. Melvin Tews, and Mrs. Albert Dietz.
Funeral services were held on Dec. 7th at 1:15 from Swarthout’s Funeral Home in Spencer and at 2:00 from Salem’s Lutheran Church in Veefkind. Interment was made in the parish cemetery, Rev. J. C. Langholz officiated.
Those from out-of-town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kienow, Mrs. Bertha Keske, Mrs. Frank Roedle, Oscar Mellenthin and Dolores Krueger, Beaver Dam; Raymond Mellenthin and Mr. and Mrs. Bert Schroeder, Rockford, Ill.; Mrs., Leland Limberg, Green Bay; Mr. and Mrs., Aug. George, Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. George Vollrath, Greenwood.
