Meinhardt, Elmer E. (6 May 1916 - 17 Apr. 2008)

Elmer E. Meinhardt, 91, formerly of Sheboygan Falls, died early Thursday, April 17, 2008 at Sunny Ridge Health Care & Rehab Center.

He was born May 6, 1916 in the Town of Warner, Clark County, the son of the late Otto and Marie (Sundermeyer) Meinhardt. Elmer was a 1934 graduate of Greenwood High School in Greenwood, WI.

On September 8, 1943 he married Esther M. Kippenhan in Greenwood. She preceded him in death of August 25, 1989. In November of 1994 he married Helen (Jensema) Wassink in Sheboygan Falls.

Elmer was a dairy farmer in Clark County. He worked at Tecumseh Products in Sheboygan Falls for four years and at Feldman Engineering for 10 years before his retirement in 1981. Elmer was a member of First Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls.

Survivors include his wife, Helen; two sons, Allan (Mary) Meinhardt of Clintonville and Douglas (Barbara) Meinhardt of Mosinee; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; three stepchildren; ten step grandchildren; one step great grandchild; Vera Meinhardt of Marshfield (sister-in-law), and one brother, Harry (Irmgard) Meinhardt of Greenwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Esther, his brother, Clarence, and a daughter, Lois Horvat.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 21, 2008 at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls at 1:00 p.m., with the Rev. Brad Veenendaal, officiating. Entombment will take place at Gardens of Peace Mausoleum.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, from 11:30 a.m. until the time of services. A memorial fund will be established in his name for missionaries Elmer supported.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Pine Haven Christian Home, Sunny Ridge Health Care & Rehab Center, and Dr. Curtis Hancock for the wonderful care and services they provided for Elmer in the last months of his life.

The staff of the Wenig Funeral Home of Sheboygan Falls (920-467-3431) is serving the Meinhardt family.
