They carry 5,012 children at an average cost per bus mile of 31.28c and an average cost per pupil of $61.53. These county averages were compiled from the individual district reports, which ranged from a low in one district of 28.6c per bus mile to a high in another of 34.7c per bus mile. The costs per pupil ranged from a low of $39,89 to a high of $79.89. Approximately one-half of these students travel over five miles each day.
