Lavonne S. Mrotek, 90, Marshfield, Wisconsin, died on Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at Golden Living Center, Three Oaks, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, March 31, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Marshfield. The Rev. Jerome Gerum officiated. Music was provided by Michael Gonering, vocalist, and Suzanne Golden, organist. Burial followed in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield. Pallbearers were her grandchildren, Erik Mrotek, Wausau, Lori (nee Mrotek) Rentmeester, Marshfield, Heather Mrotek, Wausau, Steven Mrotek, Marshfield, and Michael Mrotek, Marshfield, and a family friend, Kim Kaiser, Marshfield.

Lavonne S. Beer was born on Jan. 4, 1918, in Auburndale, to Charles and Alma (nee Altmann) Beer. When she was a young girl, they moved to Waupaca. She graduated from Waupaca High School in 1936. She worked for two years as an assisted for two prominent families in Chicago. She moved to Marshfield and worked at the Wood County Asylum, where she met Roman Mrotek. They were married on Aug. 13, 1938, at Sacred Heart parish. Later she worked at the war time plant in Marshfield. She was also employed at Wisconsin Pre-Package Cheese and later at Karau’s IGA until her retirement in 1998. Her husband died on March 22, 1990. In 2004, she moved to Wells Nature View and then in 2005, to Three Oaks Living Center. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Marshfield. Her interests included writing poetry, sewing, reading, word search, shopping, and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include three sons, James (Karen) Mrotek, Nashville, Tenn., Gerald (Betty) Mrotek, Loyal, and Daniel (Ginger) Mrotek, Marshfield; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a sister, Faith LaHaie, Green Bay; and two sisters-in-law, Annette Beer, Madison, and Frances Beer, Madison.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Roman; a son, David; three brothers, Arman (June) Beer, Donavan Beer, and Leon Beer; and two sisters, Ada (Arne) Carlson, and Goldie Beer, in infancy.

Memorials may be made to Ministry Home Care Hospice Services or the Marshfield Research Foundation.

Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield assisted the family with arrangements.
