Dyre, Leora G. #2 (25 DEC 1918 - 12 APR 2008)

Leora "Lee" Dyre, 89, Greenwood, died on Saturday, April 12, 2008, at Clark County Health Care Center, Owen. Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 16, from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m., at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Greenwood. The Rev. Terri Blomberg will officiate. Burial will be in the Greenwood City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joel Dyre, Mike Dyre, Kyle Nikolai, Chuck Waughtal, Dan Schlough and Josh Vanderhoof.

Leora Georgia Anna Arp was born on Dec. 25, 1918, to Emil and Anna (nee Gelhaar) Arp, in the town of Beaver. She was raised on the family farm and received her education at LaTarte school. As a young woman, she did housekeeping in the Loyal arer for room and board. She was united in marriage to Kenneth L. Dyre on March 11, 1938, in Greenwood. They farmed in the town of Warner until retiring in 1938. Her husband died on Oct. 27, 1993. She continued to live on the farm until Oct. 31, 2007. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and was a wonderful homemaker.

She will be sadly missed by her three children, Marilyn (Richard) Baughman, Colorado Springs, Colo.; DeVonne (Lee) Nelson, Ripon; Kenneth Jr. (Cindy) Dyre, Greenwood; six grandchildren, Chris (Chuck) Waughtal; Val (Brenda) Baughman, Kyle (Sara) Nikolai, Samantha, Mike, and Joel Dyre; one step-grandson, John (Leslie) Nelson; five great-grandchildren, Mirissa, and Alicia Nikolai, Kendell and Tyler Waughtal; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Kenneth, Sr., two grandsons, Scott Nikolai and Kenneth L. Dyre, lll.; two brothers, Charlie and Leo Arp; and one sister, Ethel Termeer.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, is assisting the family with arrangements.
