Walter, Mildred #3 (16 APR 1920 - 14 APR 2008)
Mildred Walter, 87, Neillsville, died on Monday, April 14, 2008, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Friday, April 18, 2008, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Neillsville. The Rev. Woodrow H. Pace officiated. Music was provided by Ronald Resong, organist, Rita Kuchenbecker, soloist; and St. Mary’s Choir. Burial was in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were James Walter, Mark Walter, Robert Walter, Timothy Walter, Eric Sobczak, Dr. Douglas Puffer, Nathan Barbeau and Adam Trybula.
Mildred Stochek was born on April 16, 1920, in Spencer, to Joseph and Mary (nee Stancl) Sobchek. She received her education at the Spencer school. On June 2, 1942, she was united in marriage to Eugene J. Walter at Christ the King Catholic Church, Spencer. In 1950, they took over ownership of the family farm and farmed there until 1971. They then moved 6/10 of a mile down the road to their second farm and farmed there until 1992 when they moved off the farm to their home on River Avenue. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a member a member of PCCW. She enjoyed being a housewife. She also enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing cards, crafting and visiting with family and friends.
Survivors include seven children, Barbara (Dennis) Sobezak, West Bend; Joan (James) Pietrzaz, Shakopee, Minn.; Eugene (Judith) Walter, Jr., Granton; Francis (Judith) Walter, Neillsville; Stephen (Peggy) Walter, Neillsville; Rebecca (Francis) Trybula, Neillsville; Christopher Walter, Thorp; 18 grandchildren and 14 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene on Aug. 21, 2003; a grandson, Daniel Walter; and her parents.
