Walter Marek

Thorp--Services for Walter Merek, 75, Route 1, Thorp, who died Sunday morning while operating a tractor on his farm, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Thorp.

The Rev. John W. Puerner will officiate and burial will be in St. Hedwig's Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. today at the Thorp Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.

He was born Sept. 18, 1907, in Duluth, Minn., a son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul (Frances) Marek. He and Sophie Pabich were married Oct. 22, 1935 in Thorp. Since his marriage he had farmed on Route 1, Thorp.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Tony of Racine; five daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Witkus of Rochester, Minn., Mrs. Frances Skwierczynski of Thorp, Caroline Marek of Richfield, Minn., Mrs. Christine Cottonbim of Chicago and Mrs. Marie Kaczmarcik of Wyoming; one brother, Joseph Marek of Michigan; one sister, Rose Marek of Thorp; 19 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Leon and John, and two sisters, Roxie and Mary.
