Emil Maslanka, son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Maslanka, has been awarded the Bronze Star for heroic action in Germany on February 24. The citation says that, while lending a squad carrying supplies of food and ammunition, Pfc. Maslanka sighted a wounded soldier in an area exposed to German fire. He directed his men to take cover, and, accompanied by one other man, advanced under an intense hail of hostile fire to the side of the wounded man.
