Hainz, Darlyne Eleanor (24 Sept. 1934 - 6 May 1944)
Funeral services for Darlyne Eleanor Hainz, 9 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Hainz, of the town of Pine Valley, were conducted at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Wednesday morning, May 10, with the Rev. J. A. Biegler officiating. Burial took place in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Darlyne passed away at the Neillsville hospital early in the morning on May 6, of burns which she suffered on Friday evening when her clothing caught fire at her home. The little girl was engaged in washing the supper dishes while her parents were doing chores in the barn. A sister, aged four, seeing the fire, ran to summon her parents, but before they could come to her rescue, the little girl was so severely burned that her life could not be saved. She was rushed to the hospital where she died the next morning.
Darlyne was born in the town of Grant on September 24, 1934. The family lived in Neillsville for a time, and later moved to the present home two miles south of this city. She attended the Hiawatha School near her home, where she was a favorite with her schoolmates. She had also attended St. Mary’s school previously.
Besides the parents, a four year old sister, Betty Lou, and two brothers, Otto, Jr. and Ronald, and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. David Hainz, and Mr. and Mrs. Henry B. Schoen, Neillsville survive.
Pallbearers were John and Junior Koran, Henry Schoen, Jr., Ivo and Laverne Schmitt and Donald Hansen.
