Andruszkiewicz, Leon (28 JUN 1870 - 22 MAY 1946)
Leon Andruszkiewicz Sr., passed away at the Owen hospital, Wednesday evening at 10:45 of a heart attack.
He was born in Poland, June 28, 1870. He was married there to Miss Elizabeth Pachucki, Feb. 3, 1894. To this union eleven children were born. In 1898 they came to America and lived in Pennsylvania a few years. Later they moved to Arkansas and in 1908 they came to Wisconsin and lived on a farm northeast of Thorp (Clark Co.) in the Town of Hixon. They were one of the first settlers and built a beautiful home in the wilderness. They retired in the fall of 1943 and celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in February in which all the children attended.
The surviving relatives are the widow, three sons, Charles of St. Louis, Mo., Leo and Frank of Thorp, six daughters, Mrs. Lee (Theresa) Krempel, Mrs. Harry (Bernice) Piwoni, and Mrs. Jeanette Belicki, of Chicago, Mrs. Julies (Mary) Przybylski of Gilman, Mrs. Tony (Harriet) Pietrzen of Owen and Mrs. George (Josephine) Michur of Withee; and 27 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two children, Stephan and Joseph, preceded him in death in infancy.
Funeral services were held at St. Hedwig’s Church at ten o’clock Monday morning, Rev. F. Piekarski officiating, and interment following in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were Peter Jenkot, Tony Raticzyk, Joe Zaidel, Ig. Przybylski, Joe Moczarny.
Persons who attended the funeral of Leon Andruszkiewicz Sr., on Monday from out of town were as follows: Mr. and Mrs. Charles Andruszkiewicz and son, Mrs. Charles Pachucki, Mrs. John Ramatowski, Edward Rutkowski of St. Louis, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Piwoni and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Krempel and family, Jeanette Baluki and children, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Karwachi and George Michur of Chicago, and Mrs. G. Przybylski of Wausau.
