York Center - by Mrs. Gilbert Lawrence
Mr. and Mrs. Loren Hales celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary, July 12, at a dinner for the immediate family, given in their honor at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Hillert, Sunday. Their son, Norman, who is employed at the shipyard at Manitowoc, came home for the occasion and their daughter, Evelyn, who teaches in a rural school and is helping her parents on the farm during her vacation, was present. One daughter, Marjorie, who is employed at Lake Forest, Ill., was unable to be there. Mr. and Mrs. Hales have two other children, Janet, 11 and Albert 5.
The wedding cake which lent beauty and sentiment to the occasion was baked by Miss Ida Hillert, a sister-in-law of the hostess.
Mrs. Jimmy Triska and her sister-in-law, Mrs. Johnie Laycher and daughter, Patricia, came Saturday morning for a week’s visit with Mrs. Triska’s mother, Mrs. Abie Turner, who has moved back to her own home for the week. Mrs. Turner has been staying with her daughter, Mrs. Emil Schoenfield the past few months. Mrs. Myron Turner, Chicago, arrived Sunday evening for a few days’ visit at the Turner home. Mr. and Mrs. George Turner and son, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Turner and children, Neillsville; and Victor Turner and children, Wisconsin Rapids, spent Sunday at the Turner home.
Mr. and Mrs. Horace Vandeberg and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Vandeberg, who are visiting at the Horace Vandeberg home, spent Tuesday at the Gale Vandeburg home in Dorchester, Wis.
Several of our young people enjoyed a picnic supper at Wildwood Park Saturday evening in honor of Norman Hales, who spent the weekend at home. They included: Wilburt and Louise Korth, Elaine and Violet Foemmel, Mr. Kenny, Gene and Virginia Nickols, Dickie Eibergen and Vernon Henninger.
