Catlin, Perle E. (22 Jan. 1894 - 26 Dec. 1944)

Injuries suffered on December 23 in a car accident, seven miles east of Loyal proved fatal to Perle E. Catlin of Loyal on Tuesday afternoon at St. Joseph’s hospital, Marshfield, where he was taken following the accident. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon, at the Methodist church, Loyal, by the Rev. Myron E. Taylor, pastor of the church.

Mr. Catlin was born near Loyal, on January 22, 1894, and was married to Anna Johnson, July 19, 1916. They had lived in Loyal for several years, where he was employed as a truck driver. He is survived by his wife and the following children: Melford, Eau Claire; Pvt. Marion Catlin, Madison; Vernon, Merrill; Mrs. Norbert Herman and Dorothy Catlin, Marshfield; and Eldon, Harvey, Jerome, Carroll and Dick, all of Loyal. Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. William Catlin, and two sisters and two brothers; Mrs. Andrew Lewis, Loyal; Mrs. Marie Imislund, Eau Claire; Lynn Catlin, Wisconsin Rapids; and Claude Catlin, Loyal. Otto Catlin of Neillsville is an uncle of the deceased.

Harold Cook, Loyal, who was injured in the same accident, is reported improving at St. Joseph’s hospital. He suffered severe bruises and facial lacerations which caused the loss of an eye.
