Lesniewski, Joseph (5 Feb. 1854 - 1 Feb. 1945)

Joseph Lesniewski was born in Poland February 5, 1854, and died February 1, 1945. He was married in Poland to Miss Eva Zawacki. To this union was born 18 children, nine of whom with the wife, have preceded him in death.

Those remaining are John of Whitewater, Wis.; Mrs. Mike Grakowski, Thorp; Joe Lesniewski of St. Paul, Minn.; Adam, Anton and Mrs. Frank Jasinek of Thorp, and Mike of Milwaukee; quite a number of grandchildren.

Mr. Lesniewski came to the United States 65 years ago and landed in Pennsylvania, where he worked in the coal mines for 14 years. In the spring of 1894 he bought a farm two miles east of Thorp, which he afterward sold to his son Adam. He died at the hospital and was brought back to the Thorp funeral home, where he lay in state until the funeral on Monday, February 5, just 91 years after his birth. The services were conducted by Rev. F. Piekarksi. He was laid to rest in the parish cemetery.
