Swanson, Jennie (4 Feb. 1870 - 27 May 1945)
Funeral services for Mrs. Jennie Swanson, aged 75 years, will be held today (Thursday), May 31, at 2 o’clock in the afternoon, at the Schiller-Terhune funeral home. The Rev. G. W. Longenecker, pastor of the Congregational church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Neillsville cemetery.
Jennie Larsen was born on February 4, 1870, in Bjarlf, Sweden. At the age of 19, she came to this country, living for a time at Manistique, Mich., later moving to Melrose Park, and then to Courtland, Ill. She was married on February 10, 1899, to August Swanson in Chicago, and they came in 1906 to Clark county. They lived for a time on the Adolph Hemp farm and later moved to Neillsville, residing in the house now occupied by the Rev. and Mrs. Longenecker. In 1911 they moved to the present home in the town of Pine Valley, where they have since resided.
Mrs. Swanson died suddenly of a heart attack on Sunday afternoon, May 27, at her home.
She is survived by her husband, four children and three grandchildren. The children are: Charles of Minneapolis; Harry of Middleton,; Hulda of Chicago; Emma, who is at home. A brother, Nels Strand of Downer’s Grove, Ill., also survives. One sister is deceased.
Pallbearers were August Meier, Otto Wetzel, Ed. Allen, Orin Eastman, Clarence Stiemke and Emil Zank. All of the children were here for the funeral services.
