Edward W. Miller, 87, Loyal, died on Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, May 17, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal. The Rev. Daniel Zimmerman officiated. Burial followed at Riverside Cemetery, Withee. Edward Warren Miller was born on April 3, 1921, in the town of Reseburg, to Carl and Ella (nee Vetterkind) Miller. He was raised on the family farm and received his education in the Owen area. At the age of 14, he began working at the Lone Oak Dairy west of Withee. He graduated from Owen High School in 1939 and continued to work at the dairy. He married Ina Baehr on Sept. 16, 1944, at St. John’s Lutheran parsonage in Withee. Shortly after their marriage, he entered the U.S. Army and served from 1944 until 1946. After his discharge, they bought Maple Grove Dairy in Milladore, where he was a cheesemaker. In 1951, they moved to Loyal and bought Pleasant View Dairy where he continued to make cheese. After a fire destroyed the dairy in 1991, they moved into Loyal and he retired as a master cheesemaker. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Loyal American Legion Post #175 for 61 years, and a member of the Neillsville V.F.W. He had many interests after his retirement, but especially enjoyed bowling, making maple syrup, gardening, mowing lawn, watching sports on TV and fishing for white bass.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Ina Miller, Loyal; five children, Allen (Janis) Miller, Loyal, Marvin (Arlene) Miller, Loyal, Janice (Bob) Boehning, Marshfield, Leland (Debbie) Miller, Spencer, and Wayne (Linda) Miller, Loyal; 11 grandchildren; one sister, Geraldine Baehr, Altoona; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one grandson, Luke Miller; and three brothers, Ervin Miller, Elmer Miller, and Andy Miller.
Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal, assisted the family with arrangements.
