Gwiazdon, Lambert Eugene (12 January 1940 - 25 April 2008)

LAMBERT EUGENE GWIAZDON

Lambert E. Gwiazdon, age 68, of Thorp, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield on Tuesday, April 22, 2008.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 25, 2008, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp. Fr. Keith Apfelbeck officiated and burial followed in Old St. Hedwig’s Catholic Cemetery. His nieces and nephews served as pallbearers. Visitation was held on Thursday, April 24, 2008 at Thorp Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. Knights of Columbus Rosary service, and at the church on Friday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

Lambert Eugene Gwiazdon was born on January 12, 1940 in La Crosse, WI to Frank and Lillian (Mahr) Gwiazdon. He was raised in the Thorp area and received his education in Thorp, graduating from Thorp High School in 1960. Lambert then attended vocational school for two years, in Eau Claire, learning woodworking. After returning to Thorp, he worked at Nolechek Meats for more than 25 years, retiring in the late 1980’s. During his retirement, Lambert had many interests, but especially loved fishing, spending time with his family and friends, helping people, camping, deer hunting and hunting in general, and woodworking.

He was a member of St. Bernard-St.Hedwig Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Queen of Peace Council #4634, and the Rock Dam Rod and Gun Club.

He is survived by his mother, Lillian Gwiazdon of Thorp; three sisters, Kathleen (Bob) Schumacher of Black Creek, WI, Mariette (David) Grimes of Oxford, GA, and Paula (Roy) Licht of Chippewa Falls; two brothers: Francis "Chubb" (Deb) Gwiazdon of Thorp and Timothy Gwiazdon of Appleton; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frank, and one nephew, Michael Gwiazdon.
