Flynn, Jessie #3 (19 JUN 1901)

Last week Wednesday evening, a very pretty wedding took place at the Flynn residence on Fifth Street, Mr. Claude R. Sturdevant and Miss Jessie Flynn being the high contracting parties. Rev. A.V. Ingham performed the ceremony, at 9 o’clock in the evening, the bridal pair advancing just as the first stroke of the curfew bell announced the hour.

Only relatives were present to witness the ceremony and shower blessings and congratulations upon the happy couple.

Mr. Sturdevant is a member of the law firm of J.R. & C.R. Sturdevant, a rising young attorney, who gives close attention to business and is well known and popular throughout the county. He is a native of the city (Neillsville, Clark Co., Wis.) and has always lived here. His bride has spent most of her life here, is a most charming young lady and will be a model wife. Since her mother’s death she has been the head of the household, caring for the brothers and sisters and winning golden opinions by her devotion to this duty. She is the second daughter of James Flynn, locomotive engineer on the local branch of the Omaha Ry., and is sister of Mrs. F.O. Balch.

The happy event, anticipated by knowing ones for some time, was "so sudden," that is, so quietly disposed of, that almost everybody was surprised, even their intimate friends, who, with the Times, a loud one in the bunch, congratulate them all the same.
