Schoeder, Fredrick J. L. (10 Jan. 1861 - 6 Nov. 1944)

Funeral services for Fredrick Schroeder will be conducted Thursday afternoon, November 9, at 1:30 at the home, and at 2 o’clock at St. John’s Lutheran Church. The Rev. William A. Baumann, pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church, will be the officiating pastor. Burial will take place in the Neillsville cemetery. The body will lie in state at the family home until the time for the service. Arrangements are in charge of the Jaster Funeral Home.

Mr. Schroeder died at his home in Neillsville at 11:55 p.m., on Monday, November 6, after an illness of several years.

He was born in Germany on January 10, 1861, and resided there until he was thirty years of age. He came to America in 1891, and first settled at Michigan City, Ind., where he remained tow years, coming to Clark County in 1893. After a few years in which worked at different kinds o work, he went into the shoemaker business, and remained at his work until old age compelled him to retire. He has been a patient sufferer throughout his years of ill health.

Mr. Schroeder filled well his place in the community. Throughout his long life he has been a faithful member of the Lutheran Church. In the home he was always patient and kind, and has given his children a rich heritage of a life well spent. He was a faithful worker, and honorable in his dealings with his fellow men.

In 1893 he was married in Neillsville to Helene Blum, who with her ten children survives. There are 38 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. His parents and all of his seven brothers and sisters preceded him in death. The children are: Marie, Mrs. Albert Ott, Neillsville, Carl, Chicago; Louise, Mrs. Otto Tramm, Hayward, Wis.; William, Neillsville; Rev. Paul Schroeder, Blair, Wis.; Elsie, Mrs. Fred Polenske, Milwaukee; Agnes, Mrs. John Hovorka, Racine, Ben of Madison; Rudolph of Mukwonago; and Gerhardt of Kensoha. One son died in infancy. All of the surviving children are expected to be here for the funeral services.

Pallbearers will be John Walk, Frank Hemp, Henry Bartell, Albert Degener, Kurt Listeman, and Henry Naedler.
