Bunkleman, William C. (8 Mar. 1861 - 8 Nov. 1944)
William C. Bunkleman, aged 83, for thirty-two years a resident of Neillsville, died Wednesday, November 8, at 7:30 p.m., at his home on North Hewett Street. He had been in poor health for several years, and was confined to his bed the past several months.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 11, at 10 a.m., at the Schiller-Terhune funeral home, and were conducted by the Rev. G. W. Longenecker, pastor of the Congregational church. The body was taken to Waupun where brief services were held, and where burial took place in the family lot.
He was born on March 8, 1861, at Fond du Lac, Wis., and spent his early life there. In 1897, he was married to Vira Emily Peck, at Aspen, Colo., who, with her two children, survives. Mr. Bunkleman was engaged in farming at Waupun and Waupaca for several years, and later moved to Marshfield. He came to Neillsville in 1912, and has made this his home since. For many years after coming to Neillsville, he was employed in the fee business, where he made a wide acquaintance among the farmers of this area. For several years he has been retired.
Mr. Bunkleman was a member of the Congregational Church. He was a quiet disposition, a good neighbor and friend, and held the respect of all who knew him.
The surviving children are: Katherine, Mrs. Brule G. Carlson, of Eau Claire; and Ralph, who resides at home. There are three grandchildren, James Carlson, who is serving in the armed forces, and Joyce and Brule Carlson, Jr., of Eau Claire. Two brothers and two sisters also survive. They are: Albert of New London; Lewis of the state of Washington; Mrs. Mathilda Buddenhagen of Fond do Lac; and Ida, Mrs. Jack Van Dehy. Elmer Buddenhagen of Neillsville is a nephew.
Rev. and Mrs. Roy Mamau of Eau Claire were here for the funeral services. Mrs. Bunkleman with her son, Ralph, and Mr. and Mrs. Brule Carlson, Sr., and children, Brule, Jr., and Joyce, went to Waupun as the funeral party.
