Huntzicker, George (20 July 1865 - 19 Aug. 1945)
A former Neillsville resident, George Huntzicker, 80, died at his home in Marshfield Sunday morning, August 19. Funeral services were held on Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic church, Marshfield. The Rev. Edmund Cramer officiated.
Mr. Huntzicker was born in Greenwood July 20, 1865, and was graduated from the Neillsville high school and later from the Northwestern Business college at Madison. He also spent three years in Alaska at the time of the Klondike gold rush. During the First World War he served with American forces as a major and was an instructor at Camp Douglas for a time. In 1912 he had assumed his present position with the Felker firm.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Sara Huntzicker, his son, George F. Huntzicker, Detroit, Mich.; and two grandchildren. His sister, Mrs. Mary Brooks, resides at Lewiston, Idaho. One brother, Frank, and his parents, Margaret Meyer and George Huntzicker, are deceased.
Mr. Huntzicker was a prominent business man of Marshfield and vicinity. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and also of the Elks club, and a life member of the National Rifle association.
Rosary services were conducted Tuesday evening, and later the Elks club conducted a lodge of sorrow. Several friends of Neillsville attended the funeral services.
