Schmidt, Ila B. (24 DEC 1941)
A pretty, but quiet wedding took place Dec. 24 at 4 o’clock in the afternoon at the United Lutheran parsonage in Greenwood, when Miss Ila Birdine Schmidt, daughter of Mrs. Blanche Schmidt of Loyal, became the bride of Howard Lee Olsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Olsen of Loyal township. The Rev. A. Norson read the nuptial service, and wedding vows were spoken by the dim light of the Christmas tree, while soft music played.
The bride wore a street length dress of aqua blue in wool and silk and carried a lace handkerchief, a gift of Mrs. Claude Ohlrogge, and a gold locket, a gift of the bride’s mother. She wore a shoulder corsage of pale pink and white carnations.
Their only attendants were Miss Elvira Staton and John Olsen, brother of the groom. The bridesmaid wore a street length dress of rust color velvet and wore a corsage of pink and white carnations. The bridegroom and best man both wore Teal blue suits, with a single carnation.
Later in the evening a reception was held at the home of the groom’s parents. The wedding cake was baked by the bride’s grandmother. The Christmas cake was baked by the groom’s mother. Only immediate relatives attended the reception.
The Tribune joins their many friends in wishing them much happiness.
