Verhalen, *Lorraine (1 AUG 1914 - 14 JAN 1942)
Funeral services were held Jan 17 at 9 a.m. at St. Boniface’s Catholic church in Milwaukee for Mrs. Elden Verhalen, 27, formerly of Greenwood, who died Jan. 14 at a Milwaukee hospital. Death was the result from embolism following an operation for appendicitis. Burial was made in Holy Cross cemetery, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Mrs. Verhalen, the former Lorraine Kitzhaber, was born Aug. 1, 1914, in Ryan, Ia., and came to Greenwood with her parents when she was five years old. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic school at Greenwood and was graduated with the class of 1932 from Greenwood high school.
Mrs., Verhalen was formerly employed at housework for several families near Loyal and made many friends, who are sorry to hear of her untimely death.
