Luther, Marcella L. (14 FEB 1942)
In a double ring ceremony at 3:30 o’clock Saturday afternoon, Feb. 14, Miss Marcella L. Luther, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Luther of Marshfield, route four, became the bride of Hugo L. Lau, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Lau, also of Marshfield, route four, in St. Peter’s Lutheran church, McMillan, with the Rev. J. Carl Bast officiating. Miss Marian Bast was the musician.
The bride wore slipper satin, designed with lace bodice and long flowing skirt and a finger-tip veil of net caught to a high crown of orange blossoms. Her only jewelry was a double string of pearls. She carried a bouquet of white roses and carnations. The maid of honor, Mrs. Harold Guay of Chicago, sister of the groom, wore a full length blue jersey dress and matching headdress and carried pink roses and carnations. Miss Berdeen Luther, sister of the bride, was dressed in rose taffeta, with matching headdress, and carried a bouquet of red carnations and roses. Both of these attendants wore strings of pearls, gifts of the bride.
LaVern Luther, brother of the bride, and Adolph Lau, brother of the groom, attended the bridegroom.
Immediate relatives and closest friends were served a supper at the home of the bride’s parents. Decorations were white, blue and rose streamers, with a large wedding cake centering the table. A reception for 50 guests followed.
Mrs. Lau graduated from the Marshfield high school in 1938 and is employed at the Weinbrenner shoe factory. Mr. Lau attended school in Stratford and at present is engaged in farming near Stratford, on route two, where they will reside.
Others present at the ceremony were Mr. and Mrs. Everett Dix and son of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Julius Lau and family, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Lau and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. William Lau and family and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Lasee, all of Stratford; Mrs. John Stanley and family of Edgar; Mrs. J. H. Mellentine, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Brei and Melvin Uttech, all of Arpin; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Mellentine of Auburndale; Miss Loretta Schiferl of Hewitt; Mrs. Bertha Matter and sons Walter and Orville and Miss Delores Santer of Spencer; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Foelske of Loyal; Mrs. J. C. Bast, Mr. and Mrs. Chet Seehafer and Miss Beatrice Uttech all of Marshfield, and a number of other friends from the immediate vicinity.
This wedding will be of interest to the people of Loyal and vicinity, as the bride at one time lived in this locality with her parents, who owned and operated the Stoney Creek cheese factory for a number of years. South Beaver Cor.
