Sixty members and guests of the American Legion and it auxiliary attended the Armistice party held at the Legion Hall on Sunday evening. Prized in cards were awarded to Mrs. Carl Stanbnow, first, and Miss Evangeline Sheets, second, in bridge: Mrs. Harold Stabnow, first, and Mrs. John Wuethrich, second, in 500; Peter Hanson, first and Mrs. Harry Gordee, second, in sheep-head; Edar Opdycke, first, and John Wuethrich, second, in skat; Mrs. William Dallman, first, in fan tan. The program included a reading and talk by Mrs. Fred Dehrens, a recitation by Henry Stabnow, community singing accompanied by Mrs. Don Warner, who also accompanied a quartette consisting of Mrs. Albert Dahl, Mrs. Harold Stabnow, Arthur Iverson and William Dallman.
Mrs. William Goeke, Mrs. Lex Dusso and Cpl. Lorris Dusso spent Thursday evening with Mrs. Lorris Dusso, a patient at St. Jospeh’s Hospital, Marshfield.
Vernon Mech, S 1/c, arrived here from Great Lakes to spend his furlough with his wife, Elaine.
Mr. and MRs. Robert Schneider and family spent over the weekend at Curtiss with relatives.
Mrs. W. J. B. Datz arrived here from Minneapolis Saturday for a visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Noetzel. Mrs. Datz is the former Gertrude Clute.
The American Legion Auxiliary will meet in the Legion Hall Tuesday evening, November 21, with Mrs. O. J. Amundson and Mrs. Emil Luther, hostess.
Gilbert Dill of Hollandale, Minn., spent from Saturday until Monday where with his mother, Mrs. Lydia Dill.
The Rev. and Mrs. J. S. Klingeberger visited at Neillsville; also at Marshfield at St. Joseph’s hospital with Mrs. Lorris Dusso and Mrs. William Arve on Friday.
The Rev. George Heilman announced that the Lutheran TB Christmas seals are now available at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Greenwood and at St. John’s Church in Christie.
The meeting of the Ladies’ Aid society of Zion Reformed Church which was scheduled to be held at the A. H. Notzel home today has been postponed.
Mrs. Ed. Buker had a painful injury Thursday when she tore the ligaments in her left foot in a fall at her home.
Mrs. Ray Knudsen arrived here from Georgia to spend some time with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. E. Peterson.
The Birthday club was entertained Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Don Warner.
Florine Schroeder, Y 3/c, of Chicago is spending a leave here with her mother, Mrs. Mildred Schroeder.
Mrs. Ruth Wiltsey was hostess to the Hi-Jo Bridge Club at her home Tuesday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Christ Keiner entertained Sunday at their home on the occasion of their 49th wedding anniversary, which occurs November 22, and in honor of their grandson, Lawrence Corbin, S 2/c, who arrived in the United States recently after two months of duty overseas. He is spending his leave at Pittsville with his mother, Mrs. Martha Corbin, and his sister Marlene. He has a brother, Sgt. Charles Corbin, with the marines in Santa Barbara, Cal.
Memorial services were held at Zion Reformed church for Pfc. Leo Dill by the Rev. B. M. Fresenborg. Pfc. Dill, the 19 years old son of Mrs. Lydia Dill of Greenwood, was killed in action in Holland on October 7, 1944. The service was attended by many relatives and friends. He entered service on March 23, 1943, as a senior in high school and has been overseas since May, 1944.
