Vander Wegen, Thomas (? - 03 FEB 1944)

Thomas Vander Wegan, prominent Thorp barber, was instantly killed in that village this morning about 10:00 o’clock, when he was struck by a Soo Line freight train, on the crossing at the north end of Main street.

Mr. Vander Wegen was hard of hearing, and it is believed that he walked onto the tracks in front of the train without first looking if there might be a train approaching.

Mrs. James Devine, formerly of Owen, who now resides west of Withee, is a sister of Mr. Vander Wegen. She and her husband are now making their home on the old Vander Wegen homestead.
