Foote, Charles #2 (18 JUL 1835 - 17 MAR 1902)
Charles Foote of Pleasant Ridge (Clark Co., Wis.) died suddenly Monday night, March 17th, 1902, at 5:30 p.m., of heart disease. He had gone to the barn to milk a cow and while thus engaged fell back unconscious, was carried to the house, but died before the house was reached.
Charles Foote was born in Somersetshire, England, July 18, 1835, came to this county in 1852 and to Neillsville in 1854. He volunteered for the war in 1861, serving in the old 14th Wisconsin Infantry, and was mustered out Oct. 9, 1865. In 1866 he was married to Maggie Ross, daughter of Robert Ross, who, with her five children, Frank, Oscar, Mrs. H.R. King, Mrs. H.R. Ayer and Blanche Foote, survive him, with his brother James Foote.
The funeral will be held on Friday, at 2 p.m., from the residence, under the auspices of the Odd Fellow Lodge of this city, of which he has been an honored member for 30 years, Rev. G.W. Longenecker officiating.
Mr. Foote was a man of quietness and peace, a hard worker when in good health, of rugged honesty and high moral character. His death is a great loss to the community, and the family have our sincere sympathy.
