Frey, Mathilda C. (8 FEB 1920 - 27 MAY 2008)
Mathilda C. Frey, 88, Marshfield, Wisconsin, died on Tuesday morning, May 27, 2008, at the Northside Elder Estates, Stratford. A Mass of Christian burial was held at 11:30 a.m., on Friday, May 30, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Marshfield. The Rev. Don Meuret officiated. Suzanne Golden was the organist along with Tammy Nelles as the vocalist. Burial was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery with Jim Lloyd, Michael Meyer, Sam Meyer, Matt Meyer, Tyler Meyer, and Tim Spaeth serving as the pallbearers.
Mathilda Pankratz was born on Feb. 8, 1920, in Hewett, to John and Anna (nee Hable) Pankratz. She attended St. Joseph’s Parochial School in Hewitt and married Donald H. Frey of July 17, 1940, in St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Hewitt Her husband died on Jan. 11, 2000. They farmed in the town of Spencer until their retirement. She enjoyed walking, reading, vegetable gardening and embroidering.
Survivors include her children, Daniel (friend Beth Karl) Frey, Lois (Gilbert) Spaeth, and Darlene (Patrick) Lloyd, all of Marshfield, and Diane (Allen) Meyer, Loyal; 10 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and her brothers and sisters, Raymond Pankratz, Marshfield, Bernice (Karl) Spier, Milwaukee, Isabelle Kohl, Marshfield, Tina (Willis) Leffel, Marshfield, Rita Kusta, Auburndale, Jeanette (Robert) Williams, Hazelhurst, Virginia (Donald) Williams, Marshfield, Gerald (Patricia) Pankratz, Lake Tomahawk, and Donna (Myron) Zygarlicke, Nekoosa.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; her son, Ronald in 1949; two sisters, Lorraine Fischer and Dorothy Williams; her sister-in-law, Margaret Pankratz; and trwo brothers-in-law, Howard Kohl and Jim Kusta.
Her family would like to thank Bea and Wally Marohl and staff at Northside Elder Estates for their eight years of compassionate care during her stay.
