Monday Forenoon Fire
Last Monday morning about 10:30 the Midget City Fire Co., made a record run in its response to an alarm of fire from the clothing parlors of Emil Fleischauer. A few minutes before Mr. Fleischauer smelled smoke which seemed to come from the basement. He started down immediately and in trying to locate the source, raised the hood of an apparatus for purifying gasoline used in dry cleaning, when the smoke and flames burst into his face. His clothing took fire and he ran outside and with the aid of some others he succeeded in putting out the fire on his person. He escaped with a few burns on his head and face. The prompt response of the fire company and citizens with extinguishers checked the flames in the basement so that very little damage was done. The origin of the fire is a mystery and it was mighty lucky that it was stopped immediately.
