Art Krause, 61, of Neillsville died Monday, June 30, 2008, in the Emergency Room of the Memorial Medical Center in Neillsville.
Arthur Harvey Krause was born January 29, 1947, in Neillsville, the son of Harvey and Evelyn (Hagedorn) Krause. He graduated from Neillsville High School in 1965 and then worked at the Nelson Muffler Factory for a short time before enlisting into the United States Army. He served as a cook, stationed throughout the United States and was honorably discharged after four years of duty. Upon returning to Neillsville, Art began working for the Clark County Highway Department as a heavy equipment operator. He retired in 2004 at the age of 58 after 35 years of employment.
Art was the president of the Corner Club ATVers. He was a proud member and past commander of the Haugen-Richmond American Legion Post #73 in Neillsville. He was very involved with The Highground and attended the United Church of Christ.
In his spare time Art enjoyed hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling, hayrides, his John Deere tractors and infomercials.
He is survived by three children, Josh Krause of Merrill, Joel (Susie) Krause of Weston and Adam (Melissa) Krause of Neillsville; two sisters, Barb (Mel) Moldenhauer of Osseo and Cathy Rose of Taylor; one brother, Dennis (Jolene) Krause of Willard; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.
A Memorial Service for Art will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2008, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Pastor Terry Marg will officiate. Military honors will be accorded by the Neillsville Veterans Council. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Gesche Funeral Home.
Honorary casketbearers are Jamie Jacoby, Jim Jacoby, Kevin Jacoby, Dennis Krause, Thad Krause, Brandon Rose, Ryan Rose and Shane Rose.
The Gesche Funeral Home is assisting Art’s family with funeral arrangements.
