Winneshiek, Pauline (25 DEC 1914 - 11 JAN 1947)

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Pauline Winneshiek, at the Jesse Mike home near Dells Dam, and burial took place in the Dells Dam Cemetery. The Rev. Ben Stucki of the Indian Mission school was the officiating pastor. Mrs. Winneshiek died Saturday in a hospital in Wis. Rapids. She was 32 years of age.

Pauline Youngbauer was born on Christmas Day, 1914. She lived with her family near Dells dam and attended the Neillsville Indian Mission School. After her graduation there, she attended the Neillsville High School, later moving with her family to Winnebago, Neb., where she completed her high school course. She took nurse’s training, becoming a registered nurse and did home nursing among her people.

She made Neillsville her home, residing at the Indian school, and later married to John Winneshiek, who also attended the local school and was for some time employed there. A few years ago they moved to Wis. Rapids. She is survived by her husband and a son, George, six years of age.

Mrs. Ben Stucki, Miss Mary Hartz, Miss Gretchen Hauser, Miss Cilla Kippenhan and Miss Hattie Gander attended the services.
