Meier, Hermina L. (15 FEB 1947)
St. John’s Lutheran Church of Neillsville (Clark Co., Wis.) was the scene at 2:30 Saturday afternoon, Feb. 15, 1947, of the marriage of Miss Hermina Lillian Meier, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman J. Meier of Neillsville, and Orin Lee Mathews, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Phillips of Merrillan. The Rev. William A. Baumann, pastor, officiated at the double ring ceremony.
The bride wore a gown of white satin and had a fingertip veil. Her flowers were pink and white carnations. The maid of honor, Miss Lorraine Holub, niece of the bride, wore a pink gown. Mrs. Walter Brown of Eau Claire, sister of the groom, and Mrs. Henry Schutte, bridesmaids, had gowns of blue and pink, respectively. The groom was attended by Walter Brown of Eau Claire and Henry Schutte, John Bremer, the church organist furnished music.
Following the ceremony, a reception for 70 guests was held at St. John’s assembly room which was decorated in pink, white and blue. A three-tier wedding cake, topped with a miniature bride and groom, was served. The young couple plan a trip at a later date. They are residing at the home of the bride’s parents.
The bride attended St. John’s Lutheran School. The past five months she has been employed in Neillsville. The groom attended the Merrillan schools and since his discharge from the army has been studying electric work.
Out of town guests included: Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Nickel and children, Jean Virginia, Sharon, Judy Kay and Hebert Jr., cousins of the bride, Granton; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Widmann, uncle and aunt of the bride, and their children, Lenore, Lucille and John, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. William Phillips, mother and step-father of the groom; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mathews, brother and sister-in-law of the groom, Eau Claire; Mrs. Laura Gould, Merrillan, sister of the groom.
