Wendt, John William (17 February 1875 - 16 December 1946)
John William Wendt, 71, died on December 16 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where he had been a patient the past three weeks.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 19, (1946) at 1:30 p.m. at the Georgas Funeral Home, where the body is lying in state. The Rev. N. J. Dechant, pastor of Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Neillsville Cemetery.
Mr. Wendt was born February 17, 1875, in Cataract, Wis., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wendt, Sr. He received his education in Cataract, and in 1900, came with his parents to Clark County. They settled on the old Ferd Kopp farm in the Town of Levis, and several years later moved to the Chandler farm, north of Neillsville. He spent several years in Canada, and came back to Clark County in 1924. He worked for a time in Humbird and in Greenwood, and five years ago moved to Neillsville, where he has since resided.
Mr. Wendt is survived by four sisters, Sophia, Mrs. Henry Ghent, and Anna, Mrs. William Neville, Sr., Neillsville; Mrs. Clara Lastofka, Minneapolis; Laura, Mrs. Evan Hatton, Greenwood. Two brothers and two sisters with his father and mother preceded him in death. He leaves many nieces and nephews.
