Durst, Gertrude Lillian (10 February 1929 - 27 July 2008)
Gertrude Durst, 79, Neillsville, died Sunday, July 27, 2008, at the Memorial Health and Rehabilitation Center in Neillsville.
Gertrude Lillian Durst was born Feb. 10, 1929, the daughter of Ed and Helen (Matysik) Eisberner, in Black River Falls. She attended the Sunshine Country School in Humbird and graduated from the Humbird High School. She was united in marriage to Ivan Durst Jan. 20, 1949, in Black River Falls. They moved to Neillsville in 1969, and Gertrude raised her family while Ivan worked at the Nelson Muffler Plant. After retiring, they enjoyed traveling, spending their winters in Truth or Consequences, NM. Gertrude also enjoyed reading, listening to country western music and doing puzzle books.
She is survived by her husband, Ivan, Neillsville; her children, Kenneth (Melinda) Durst, Neillsville, Suzanne Durst, Neillsville, Evelyn (Gene "Butch") Quicker, Granton, Carol (Steve) Boushon, Granton, Allen (Kathy) Durst, Neillsville, and Charles (Pam) Durst, Neillsville; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy (Walter) Hinker, Desert, SD, and Elaine Eisberner, Sunnyvale, CA.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters, Mary Frank, Helen Vinton, Edward, Joseph, Donald and Lawrence Eisberner.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 2008, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. The celebrant will be Fr. Woodrow H. Pace, Music will be provided by Ronald Resong, organist, and Rita Kuchenbecker, soloist. Interment will be in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Fairchild. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a 7:30 Rosary Service Thursday at the Gesche Funeral Home.
The Gesche Funeral Home is assisting Gertrude’s family with funeral arrangements.
