Tyznik, Roman "Ray" (9 August 1925 - 25 July 2008)

Roman "Ray" Tyznik, age 82, died at his residence in the Town of Thorp on Friday, July 25, 2008.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church in Lublin on Wednesday, July 30, 2008. Father Marion Talaga officiated and burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Marge Tyznik, Joanne Telisczak, Steve Telisczak, Ryan Szemraj, Sara Telisczak, Roy Tyznik, and Jacob Telisczak. Visitation was held at the Thorp Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 29, 2008, from 4-8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service, and at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services.

Roman Tyznik was born on August 9, 1925, in the Lublin area, the son of Walter Sr. and Emma (Lubrant). He was educated in the Lublin area. On November 27, 1954, Roman and Veronica Romanowski were united in marriage at St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church in Lublin. The couple moved to Chicago where Roman worked in construction. They returned to the Thorp area and purchased the Romanowski farm. The couple raised their family and farmed together until retiring in 1997. Roman loved fishing, hunting, and woodworking. He enjoyed time with his family, especially the grandchildren. Ray was a voting clerk for the Town of Thorp, and in the early years he drove snowplow for the Town of Thorp. He was a member of St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church in Lublin.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 53 years, Veronica Tyznik of Thorp; and his children: Margaret Tyznik (Jim Szemraj) of Wentzville, Missouri, Joanne (Steve) Telisczak of Gilman, Kenneth Tyznik, of Thorp, and Alan (Desilyn) Tyznik of Thorp. He is further survived by eight grandchildren: Eric, Ryan, Sara, Jacob, Jennifer, Lyndsey, Kaitlyn and Alex; and one sister, Ruth Twardowski of Eau Claire.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Walter Tyznik, Jr.; and sister, Martha Olejniczak.

Thorp Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
