Suchanek, Helen A. (21 February 1909 - 16 July 2008)

Helen A. Suchanek, 99, of Black River Falls and formerly of Hatfield passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at Pine View Care Center, Black River Falls.

Helen was born Feb. 21, 1909, to Vclav and Anna (Fila) Zdenek in Chicago, IL. She married Jerry George Suchanek, Sr. June 18, 1927, in Chicago.

She and her husband, Jerry, moved to Hatfield in 1950, and they owned and operated the Inwood from 1950 to 1972, a total of 22 years. Jerry Suchanek, Sr. died May 3, 1965.

Helen loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also was fond of cats, crocheting, knitting, cooking and baking. In 2003, Helen was honored to be chosen as the Hatfield Parade Marshal.

Helen is survived by her daughter, Helen (Michael) Borchert of Le Sueur, MN; her daughter-in-law, Ann Suchanek of Black River Falls; four grandchildren, Jerry (Brenda) Suchanek of Janesville, Mary (Dean) Johnson of Hixton, Norma Shaw of Sparta and James (Michelle) Suchanek of Taylor; eight great-grand-children, Dalton, Alexandra, Samuel, Dylan, Kristine, Kacie, Madison and Carter; one sister, Mary Vandeburg of Forest Park, IL; and one sister-in-law, Marie Nemecek of Chicago, IL.

In addition to her husband, Helen was preceded in death by her son Jerry Suchanek, Jr. and one brother, Charles Nemecek.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 18, 2008, 11 a.m. at Buswell Funeral Home, Black River Falls. Burial was held in the Hatfield Cemetery.

Family and friends were invited for visitation Friday, July 18, 2008, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services at Buswell Funeral Home.
