Olsen, Lorraine E. (7 July 1914 - 25 July 2008)
Lorraine E. Olsen, 94, formerly of Fairchild, passed away Friday afternoon, July 25, 2008, at Midelfort Luther Oakridge Hospital in Osseo.
Lorraine, daughter of Albert and Anna (Bramer) Thur, was born July 7, 1914, in St. Paul, MN. As a small child she moved to rural Fairchild, where she lived all her life in the Cleveland Township. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fairchild, where she was a lifelong member and active in its ladies’ society. She attended Fairview Country School. Before her marriage she worked as a nanny and at the Gladstone Hotel in Fairchild.
She was united in marriage to Einer Olsen June 30, 1937, in Madison. The couple farmed all their married life. In 1972, Einer suffered a paralyzing stroke and for nine years Lorraine took care of him at home. Einer passed away April 11, 1981. To Lorraine, her family was everything, looking forward to time spent together. She also enjoyed her flower gardens, especially her roses and geraniums. She was an excellent cook and through the years canned many fruits and vegetables; she also enjoyed crocheting.
She is survived by four sons, Norman (Barbara) Olsen of Green Bay, Larry (Mary) Olsen of Merrill, and Orville Olsen, Donald )Colleen) Olsen, both of Fairchild; two daughters, Nancy Olsen of Altoona and Marie (Greg) Cross of Loveland, CO; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, (her husband, Einer), and sisters, Eldora Richards and Linda Holman-Hegg.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at 1 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fairchild, with Pastor Ricky Bertels officiating. Burial was in the Fairchild Cemetery.
Memorials in Lorraine’s name may be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fairchild or the hospital in Osseo.
Funeral services were provided by the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta.
