Jerse, Jean (Marriage - 23 October 1946)

Gorman News: Miss Jean Jerse, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jerse of Cleveland, O., and Frank Champa, son of Mrs. Ursula and the late Frank Champa of Willard, exchanged their marriage vows on October 23, 1946, at the St. Vitus Catholic Church at Cleveland, O., with the Rev. Fr. Baraga performing the double ring ceremony with the nuptial high mass at 9 o’clock.

The bride wore a white satin gown, with a net yoke, full marquisette skirt with a long train. Her fingertip veil was held in place with a crown of orange blossoms. Her only jewelry was a gold cross, a gift of the groom, and she carried a bouquet of Calla lilies and a white prayer book. The bride also presented a bouquet of white chrysanthemums before the statute of the Blessed Virgin Mary at the church.

The bridesmaid was Miss Nellie Svetonovich, a friend of the bride. Mrs. John Zakrajsek, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Both wore tiaras of silver with matching blushers and silver slippers.

John Champa, brother of the groom was best man and John Zakrajsek, a brother-in-law of the bride, acted as usher.

Dinner was served to the immediate family at noon and to about 200 relatives and friends in the evening.

The reception was held at Mlynko Hall 79th, St. Clair, which was decorated with white, blue, and pink streamers and a large white wedding cake topped with miniature bride and groom centered on the main table.

The music was furnished by Joseph Kaucnik orchestra.

During the day the bridal party called on friends and relatives at hospitals and homes.

After a wedding trip to Niagara Falls, N.Y., Mr. and Mrs. Frank Champa will be at home at 5803 Bonna Ave. Cleveland, O.

The groom has served in the U. S. army for four years, and the bride has been employed in Cleveland.

Those from away who attended the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Anton Merkun and John Champa, Willard, Wis.

A pre-nuptial shower was also held for the newlyweds.
