Grottke, Ethel L. (Marriage - 15 June 1946)
Miss Ethel L. Grottke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Grottke, Granton, became the bride of Chapman A. Paulson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Paulson of Neillsville Saturday, June 15, at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Granton. The Rev. William A. Lauterbach officiated at the double ring ceremony.]
The wedding march was played by Richard Hillert, Jr.; Ione Dankemeyer and Dorothy Moh sang two selections. Candles, cut flowers and a white runner were the decorations used for the church.
The bride wore a gown of white velva-ray, fashioned with the drop shoulder effect, long sleeves, and the skirt ended in a long train. A headdress of seed pearls and orange blossoms held in place the finger tip length veil of net, trimmed with lace butterflies and edging. She carried a bouquet of gardenias.
Ruth Grottke, Chicago, youngest sister of the bride, was the maid of honor. Mrs. John Engelsman and Mrs. Douglas, Chicago, also sisters of the bride, and Patricia Paulson, sister of the groom, were the bridesmaids.
The groom’s attendants were Howard Finnegan of Frederic, best man, and Louis and David Grottke, ushers. Fred Grottke gave his daughter in marriage.
Following the ceremony a reception was held in the dining room of the church for 75 guests.
Mrs. Paulson is a graduate of Granton High School and Wood County Normal. She taught at the Sunbeam School in Lynn for two years, and at the Romadka state graded school the past year. Mr. Paulson also graduated from the Granton High School, and following his discharge from the army has been associated with his father in the cattle business.
After a wedding trip to the Black Hills of South Dakota the couple will make their home in Neillsville.
Out-of-town guests present at the wedding were: John Engelsman, Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Tamm, Mr. and Mrs. William Sterns and children, Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Voight, Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Berlick and son, Mrs. Eugene Hart and children, Mr. and Mrs. John Blank, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Finnegan.
