Becker, Fred (19 May 1864 - 8 January 1948)
Funeral services for Fred Becker, 83, were held January 10, (1948) from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Loyal the Rev. M. C. Goetsch officiating. Burial was made in the church cemetery. He died on Thursday morning at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital, where he had been a patient since December 15.
Mr. Becker was born in Germany May 19, 1864 and came to the United States in 1891, settling in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was married there on February 7, 1892, to Minnie Tetzloff, who preceded him in death. He farmed near Rib Lake for nine months, after which he came to Clark County. In 1939 he ceased farming and became owner and proprietor of the Atwood dance hall and tavern.
Surviving are a son, Otto Becker, Unity; two daughters, Mrs. Albert (Elsie) Smith, Colby, and Mrs. Roy (Mamie) Thompson, Minneapolis; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
